Description
By stomatitis is meant the inflammation of the oral mucosa, while gingivitis refers only to the inflammation of one of its portions, namely the gingiva.
The gingiva is the part of the oral mucosa that covers the alveolar arches (alveolar processes) of the maxilla and mandible.
